Default Dollar amount of order listed on work order form

Unfortunately in my area, especially during thunderstorms or construction, we lose power. When that happens, we're in bad shape when a customer comes to pick something up since obviously, BizWiz is down. So, we have to look thru all the pick-up bins to find the order (can't be avoided), but we don't know what to charge them unless we've attached the order acknowledgement with payment details. Is there any way we can have some type of choice as to if we want the total dollar amount due included on the work order?

We're not paper free...we print a work order (and currently we print and attach the order acknowledgement so we have the amount due) and then after the order is paid (or invoiced) we print a copy for the customer and us. I just hate printing the extra set of papers, especially if it's a large order with engraving included because sometimes that's another 10 sheets of paper attached to the work order. Is there something else we can do?

Not sure if this will help, but the next release of BizWizard Order Manager has some system configuration options that allow you to control how much information is printed on the Order Acknowledgement thus cutting 10 pages potential down to a single page. See below screenshot

Basically by turning off items that print on the Order Acknowledgement, you will be able to control how much gets printed on the customers receipt, yet the work order will continue to have all the information printed on it since it is used internally.

So when you print a copy of the order to put on the shelf with the product, simply print the order acknowledgement which can easily fit probably 10 or more line items on a single page as long as the special instructions, personalization text, pricing matrix, kit components, attributes are not printing (but these will still print on the work order)

We were trying your suggestion, but of course for every answer there is an additional problem. When we were sending the order acknowledgements, the customer couldn't see the the personalized text that we're to engrave so they were unable to catch any issues with wording, item descriptions, etc. They seem to like that information and at times it prevented issues before they happened. So, we had to go back to allowing the full detailed information on the acknowledgement and we're back to printing 2 sets of paperwork in house. It still seems like being able to print the dollar amount of the order on the work order would satisfy that. We could e-mail the order acknowledgement to the customer (with full details) and only have to print the work order in house. It seems like that could easily work (but then, I'm not a programmer). Thanks-

Have you thought of a UPS for your counter computer and server. A decent UPS not only keeps a server and computer running for up to an hour during a power failure, it also protects your database from corruption from a power failure. The main difference between the work order and the order acknowledgement is printing the price and line item notations. If you start printing both of those on the work order, then basically a work order is the exact same as an order acknowledgement with a different name on it. Do you have a UPS for counter and server?
