    Default Merging Orders

This thread was closed but I wanted to comment.

We have that same problem happen ALOT at our shop. I understand what you mean by the orders being receipts, the same as if you went to say Walmart and purchased items for an event. But we aren't Walmart, and our business is based on personalization, customization and the fact that any given moment info changes, names change, dates change. Especially when you are dealing with a return customer and/or a really large event with alot of awards and information. I think being able to merge orders and/or invoices as well as being able to split them into two would be a tremendous enhancement and make our order entry procedure much more user friendly.

The largest problem is Audit Trails. If your ever audited, an audit trail is extremely important. Merging of an order or invoices destroys an audit trail unless that invoice and/or order remains. There must be a way to show that dollar amounts were transferred as a credit to one invoice and a debit to another invoice which means the invoice is not merged as the audit trail must remain. So the big problem is balancing functionality as you requested with accounting practices that are accepted by IRS, State and other governmental agencies that perform audits.

But isn't the main arguement that Order Manager is NOT an accounting program but an order entry program. I understand the auditing point but if we were to be audited, the accounting program is what would be looked at first. It seems that we are moving more towards the accounting side at the expense of what made BizWiz so attractive in the first place. The ablility to have a professional order entry system for both our staff and our customers. It would seem that until we are able to completely eliminate our accounting program such as Quickbooks, enhancements should be made to increase functionality rather than accoutning practices. It could be also that I need a refresher course in some of the aspects of BizWiz Order Manager and maybe I am not using it to it's full capacity.
