Default Bulk Product Change / Product Search Bug?

I updated my Tropar catalog from the Master Catalog yesterday. It brought in the new products with a status of Inactive, like it's supposed to.

I then identified those products through a Product Search, searching for Tropar products with a status of Inactive (btw, is there any way to identify new products imported from the Master Catalog other than finding the ones with a status of Inactive and a price of zero??) so I could review them and make sure they were assigned to the right categories. Note that at this stage, these products showed up in a search when searching using a particular "Product Status" value (Inactive or Active).

I then did a Bulk Product Change to set the status to Active and set the pricing. The Change completed and when I look at each product they now show a status of Active and have associated pricing. However, when I do a product search they do not show up when searching for "Active" products, nor do they show up when searching for "Inactive" products. They only show up when setting the Status parameter to "All" when searching.

Actually, the reason new products are set to InActive is specifically so you can identify products that need to be reviewed. The InActive status was originally designed specifically for this purpose. After Review, set the product to Active. Thus your only left with products to review that have not been reviewed (i.e. InActive)

In your shopkart catalog, I did a search for Tropar Supplier and Status of Active and I did see the new products that were imported in. Do you have an example of a product # that is NOT showing up with searching for supplier Tropar and Status of Active, yet that product is showing up using status of All?

Sorry, should've been more specific. I was putting the part number into the Search field as well. So, for example, I was searching "TP1610" with a supplier of "Tropar" and status of "Active". When you search this way, products don't show up with when the status is set to "Active"...only when it's set to "All"...even if they are Active.

It also appears this is true of all my products, not just Tropar and not just products that have recently been imported. I only noticed it on those types because that's what I happened to be working with. So, is this just a more general bug of the Search function?

Actually, I had alot more Inactive products than the new ones because I chose the "make obsolete items Inactive" option when syncing to the Master Catalog. At that point, the only way to tell the obsolete ones from the newly imported ones is the price (since all the new items come in with a zero price). At that point, though, folks should be wary of the order they do things in - if you happen to do a Bulk Change to set the pricing on the new items before you clear out the obsolete items (or mark them all in some identifiable way), then there is no way to tell a new item that has just imported from an obsolete item.

Maybe it would be helpful if all obsolete items had "(OBSOLETE)" appended to the product name upon syncing with the Master Catalog? That way they'd be easily identifiable by a search no matter what.

Pushing out a code fix today that will address this.

This has been identified as a confusing point and "discontinued" products will gain access to a new status called "Discontinued" The expected date for this is not known at this point, probably within 30 days.

There are some other issues surrounding this that we need to work out. For instance, lets assume a supplier has 3 sizes of a product, but only the small size product is discontinued. 2 sizes are still available. This is the major problem with how this will be implemented as the whole product is not discontinued, rather only a size is discontinued.
